Richard works in a variety of media on a variety of scales and surfaces. His work is abstract, reflecting on places, events and experiences, often working over a period of time and through several versions of each image.

‘There is a deliberate attempt to think about which elements of experience or memory are visual, and which are more difficult to capture by a literal use of colour or form; the challenge is to try to record the essence of those moments and feelings - capturing their emotional kick - in a way that allows others to share and compare experience.’
