Digital Play Lights Up Network Ryde
The Ryde Art Collective’s Digital Play Lab transformed Network Ryde’s converted church into an immersive space of moving image, sound and projection.
Led by artists Jan Frith and Harry Payne, the day began with an afternoon workshop introducing Isle of Wight artists to TouchDesigner - creative software used for live visuals, projection mapping and generative digital art. For many it was a first experience, sparking new ideas, experimentation and discussions about future collaborations.
The evening session welcomed young people from Network Ryde, who explored the technology using their own film, sound and projection to create large-scale interactive visuals throughout the building. The atmosphere was playful and energetic, with fluorescent glow bracelets adding to the immersive experience.
The project brought artists and young people together through shared experimentation, with everyone discovering new creative possibilities through digital technology, collaboration and play.
